Back from CAMP

Yup I made it back from Camp Improv Utopia. The event was completely sold out, with somewhere around 90 improvisors in attendance, and stuffed into 9 cabins.
To say that the event was a success would be an understatement. How did the organizers pull this off? I dont know. Especially considering that this was the first ever of these events, and there was no blue print to work off of...it was amazing how virtually nothing went wrong.
I hope to have some more discussions about camp on the next improv frog podcast so stay tuned.

DO I EVEN KNOW WHAT IM DOING?

Ok, so I have a podcast, and somehow I manage to record shows and get them up on the internet and on itunes...but could I actually tell you how I do it? Nope. Way back when I was setting up the podcast and website, i stayed up late one night doing everything by trial and error. Trouble is, I never wrote down the steps I took to get there. So everything kinda works so far...but i cant go back and make changes or adjustments to the settings or a lot of things, because I wouldnt even know where to begin. So...Ive been fortunate that things work, and somehow when I load a show it shows up in all the different places on the web, but heaven help me...I cant explain HOW.
the next web site I build, I promise I will document every step I took in order to get it up and running.

ok...POR FIN! its finally there.

the new podcast episode is finally ready.http://feeds.feedburner.com/theimprovfrogpodcast

or just go to www.theimprovfrog.com

just Chili B talking about improv RULES, and then later on going on a rant about performers who really care vs. those whom dont.

AUSSIE IMPROV COMEDY EXPLOSION

Episode 23 of the Improv Frog's Podcast features the members of Aussie Improv Comedy Explosion, a NEW live improv show at Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip.

They are exported from Austrailia, and apparantly packed their luggage full of fun...because the short-form improv show is a blast!

I took Amy Pittle from improv-vegas with me as we visit them backstage for a chat.

Missing Colin

Its only been a little while, but I already miss Colin Trahan. As you know Colin was interviewed on episode 22, and he announced that he was leaving Las Vegas for the more lucrative acting market of Los Angeles.
Colin used to perform regularly on stage here at the S.E.T. our local Monday night improv show, and the last few shows he has not been there. I miss watching him.
For that matter; I also miss Eric Jeffers who left Las Vegas to train and perform in the new Cirque Show in Los Angeles.
Note to Los Angeles-stop stealing our talent!

Colin Trehan is interviewed on the FROG

Colin Trehan from the musical Jersey Boys is interviewed by Chili B for the New Year episode.
He talks about performing improv in Las Vegas and moving to Los Angeles.
Colin is one of my favorite performers, and I'm gonna miss seeing him on stage.

We also talk about "what is improv"?
and get to the listener emails.

New FROG episode with Matt Donnelly

I'm very excited to announce that I was able to steal improv super star Matt Donnelly away from his busy performing schedule to sit down for an improv-related interview. Oprah doesn't have him, Letterman doesn't have him, Larry King doesn't have him....only Chili B with the improv Frog has him!
To see him perform only once, is to instantly be a devoted follower and fan.
In this interview we start slowly and innocently talking about his love and romance with Las Vegas' First Lady of Improv-Sarah Lowe....and end with a bombshell when Matt reveals his personal feelings towards the Second City business model.
I coulda talked all night, but unfortunately he had to go.
Tune in and be charmed. Remember I do this ALL for you!
at the end of the show I give two announcements for upcoming improv related events.
the first annual Red Rocks improv Festival, and Camp Improv Utopia.

Phil Faiss interviewed

improv instructor/performer from Las Vegas sits down for a LENGTHY interview. Its difficult to stop talking when you have two people who love improv as much as Phil and I.

Phil talks about his short films, his experiences studying improv at the Groundlings as well as Second City, and finally his experiences performing here in Las Vegas.

Phil is one of my favorites and has the BEST laugh!

Tune in to listen to his laugh, and his pleading to get a date.

Build those Characters!!!!

On the August 24 episode of the Adam Carolla podcast (adamcarolla.com) guest Chris Parnell talks about his improv training at the Groundlings, as well as his experience auditioning and performing for SNL.
If you want to get straight to his portion of the show-he appears at appx 57 minutes into the show.

One of the things I found interesting is when SNL auditions actors they ask to see 3 characters and 3 impressions.
So it is never too early to start creating and fine-tuning those strong characters, if you want to be ready for a show like SNL to come calling.

Finally! a NEW episode of the improvfrog podcast.
I talk about where I was during the month of July, followed by a taped live performance of me doing stand-up in Las Vegas, and end with a serious discussion on racism and how it is sometimes used to try and censor or stifle the creative artist.
Enjoy!

You can go directly to the website theimprovfrog.com or just scroll down to the bottom of this page to click on the link for episode 17.

3rd Sunday Troupaloopa in Las Vegas

I had a great time hosting and serving as emcee for the 3rd Sunday Troupaloopa in Las Vegas.
Besides my joking and dancing and looking great for my age...the improv groups:
Anger Management, Big Fun, and Purple Duct Tape performed.
There were awesome musical performances by Tony B, Swat Team LV, and Frank Salvo.

What a great night!
Over three thousand people tuned in to the live feed on castnetwork.com

my feet hurt, and my boy wished me happy fathers day :)

Great stand up set in Las Vegas

I had a great time at the live show on May 23rd downtown Las Vegas. I performed a fifteen minute stand up set. All in all every single joke was well received except ONE. But you dont know me too well if you think I would let that sleeping dog lie. I put some extra stank on that dead dog, til I recessutated it back to life, and salvaged that dead joke with some impromtu physical comedy.
The improv group that performed on the show was smoking hot that night. There was a hip hop group that rocked the house, and the entire show was technically savvy. there was a live video feed that went out over the internet.
Anyway...hope to do it again soon.

NEW episode posted

Episode 15 is now available.
I start out the show making a sort of "confession". I am just trying to fulfill my promise of being more revealing of my personal life.

Then we have an injection of culture into the show...where we listen to some Shakespeare.

new episode coming soon!

Holy crackers! Do you know how long it takes for a dim-wit like me to edit a single podcast?
I've been doing it for awhile, and I have only now whittled it down to THREE days!
It hurts my brain, it makes me cranky, but it has to be done, and it's all worth it in the end.

I am happy to present this upcoming episode...it was a labor of love, and I hope you will enjoy it. It will be posted in a few days from now (crossing my fingers.)

As a side note: does anyone else's boss at work get on their nerves as much as mine is right now?
